A kitchen consultant’s job is to ensure that every kitchen is fitted with the right equipment, adequate spacing and correct work flowso that staff can achieve maximum efficiency and productivity in their operations.

With over 50 years of hands-on experience, Somerville has been appointed as Kitchen Consultants for new build and renovation developments for hotels, multipurpose entertainment centres, hospitals, food courts, central kitchens and staff cafeterias. Our clients are global companies with regional projects covering Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Maldives, Malaysia and Singapore.

Somerville’s expertise lies in its ability to strike a harmonious balance between equipping kitchens with the latest technological trends and ensuring that the equipment proposed are easy to maintain. We understand that the more complex the equipment, usually the more difficult and expensive the after sales service.

We work closely and coordinate with Architects, M&E Consultants, Structural Engineers and Interior Designers to ensure that the owner’s requirements are implemented into the kitchen layout.

Special attention will be paid to workflow, hygiene, health, safety and government regulations.

Fabrication & Manufacturing

Somerville (Siam) has in-house facilities to fabricate stainless steel and refrigerated equipment to design specifications. Some of these items include: stainless steel work tables, stainless steel sinks, coldrooms and refrigerated showcases.

We adopt quality control programs to ensure that quality is controlled, deadlines are met and correct materials are used. We also continuously search for new industry techniques so that we can provide our customers with better products at lower prices.

 
Project Management

Our Project team is the backbone of Somerville’s operations as they have successfully established themselves as an experience player capable of undertaking multiple large and complex projects simultaneously

Our 20 strong team of Project Engineers and support staff is headed by our Project Director. They work closely with skilled installers and equipment specialists to ensure that the project is completed as per the consultant’s standards and on time.

Whichever the assignment, the assigned project engineer is always made available to the architects, kitchen designer, and owner representative, attending all necessary site meetings to offer advice, guidance, answer questions and deal with any possible pitfalls before they occur.

To summarize, this is what we offer for every project undertaken :

  • Assignment of project engineer to oversee all aspect of preparation work, ordering, delivery, installation of equipment and site progress for the duration of the project.
  • Attending all relevant site meetings.
  • Equipment consolidation and storage at Somerville warehouse ready for dispatch.

Installation and After Sales support
We install your kitchen equipment with great care and precision to reduce initial operating problems. Our technicians will be in constant contact with the operators to ensure that the installation process is as fuss-free as possible.

We understand and appreciate that your business is not just a one shot deal of us. For this reason, we invest in training programs for our staff so they are kept up to date with the latest industry practices. We also keep a large inventory of common spare parts to keep the downtime of our customer’s equipment to a minimum.

Our Chief Engineer and many of our Senior Technicians have been with Somerville for more than 25 years and their knowledge and experience is invaluable. This expertise remains with us and is shared with junior technicians who are engaged in important installation jobs.
Preventative Maintenance
We offer Preventative Maintenance (PM) services to customers where warranty have expired on their equipment.

Our comprehensive PM programs are designed to improve equipment life and avoid any unplanned maintenance activity. Unfixed or unnoticed mechanical issues can result costly repair expenses in the long run.

Depending on the owner’s preference, PM services can be conducted on a monthly, quarterly or bi-annual basis.
